11.06.2009: Review Meeting in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, UK

The 2nd Apple-CORE Review takes place at the The Node, a beautiful conference centre set within 28 acres of garden and parkland in the beautiful countryside of Hertfordshire, UK. The conference centre is only a short taxi ride from nearby Hitchin. Roughly 30 mins by train from King’s Cross, Hitchin can easily be reached by all means of transport. National Express operates direct bus connections from most London airports to Hitchin:

  • Luton: 20 mins
  • Stansted: 1 h 0 mins
  • Heathrow: 1 h 40 mins

The bus stop St. Mary’s square is in the centre of Hitchin. From here, take a Taxi to the conference venue at Hitchin Road, Codicote, Hertfordshire, SG4 8TL. We have prepared a Google map for your convenience. It provides a map of Hitchin containing markers for the venue and several stations as well as markers for all London airports.

from Luton:

One option is to take a National Express bus. It leaves directly from outside the terminal. Tickets can be purchased inside the terminal. It takes roughly 20 mins, costs about 5 GBP, and brings you to St. Mary’s square in Hitchin.
Alternatively, you can take a taxi which costs roughly 20 GBP.

from Stansted:

Take a National Express bus to Hitchin. It leaves from the lower level of Stansted airport. Follow the signs for coaches. You can buy tickets directly at the coach station. Just ask a member of staff. A return ticket is roughly 15 GBP.

from Heathrow:

Take a National Express bus directly to Hitchin St Mary’s square.

from City Airport:

First, you have to get to King’s Cross. You may want to use the DLR (dockland light railway) to Bank (roughly 20 mins) and then the underground (Northern Line (Bank branch) northbound) to King’s Cross (another 5mins). The Transport for London page provides maps and timetables for all intra-London travel including the DLR and the underground. Alternatively, you can take a taxi to King’s Cross which costs about 25 GBP and takes 45 mins. From King’s Cross you can take a direct train to Hitchin operated by FirstCapitalConnect.

from Gatwick:

First, you have to get to King’s Cross. There is a direct train to King’s Cross St. Pancras (5 mins walk from King’s Cross) which takes about 60 mins. Alternatively, you can take the Gatwick Express which takes you to Victoria station in roughly 30 mins. From there, take the underground to King’s Cross (Victoria Line eastbound). That will bring you to King’s Cross within 10 mins. From King’s Cross you can take a direct train to Hitchin operated by FirstCapitalConnect.

by train:

Most trains from Cambridge and Peterborough stop in Hitchin. If you need to take one that does not, get off in Stevenage and take a train from London towards Cambridge one station back North to Hitchin.

by car:
